POOL CUES, BEER BOTTLES, & BASEBALL BATS:
![]() | Pool Cues, Beer Bottles, and Baseball Bats: Animals Guide to Improvised Weapons for Self-Defense author: Marc Animal MacYoung rating: ![]() asin: 0873645456 binding: Paperback list price: $20.00 USD amazon price: $15.60 USD |
This is the first book of Animal’s that I read. I have been hooked ever since on his raunchy, witty style and the wealth of information he covers.
Like most of Marc’s early works, it is designed to teach young macho black belts the realities of being tough and getting into fights. And what you can do about those realities when they start to expand your experience.

HARD WON WISDOM from the school of HARD KNOCKS: how to avoid a fight and the things to do when you can’t or don’t want to, by Alain Burrese. Authors Choice Press, 1996. ISBN: 0-595-17422-1
For a book about not fighting, Alain Burrese has filled this with a lot of excellent tips about the how-to’s of physical protection from assault.
As an ex-paratrooper and sniper, a well trained martial artist and gifted motivational speaker, Alain is uniquely qualified to write about the avoidance of violence.
Street E&E:
![]() | Street E & E: Evading, Escaping, and Other Ways to Save Your Ass When Things Get Ugly author: Marc Animal MacYoung rating: ![]() asin: 0873647432 binding: Paperback list price: $20.00 USD amazon price: $15.60 USD |
How many times have you heard someone say, or even said it yourself, “If someone gets nasty with me, I’ll just run away!”

Animal’s writing style is witty, his attitude is sarcastic and he is above all, practical. His website, No Nonsense Self Defense.com is a wonderful resource of good stuff but I got free video! Hah! This book is obviously for the young ones that can still run but even though I am too old to run much, I still have things to teach and this is one of them. Have fun with it.
HAPKIDO CANE:
HAPKIDO CANE: Big Stick Fighting from the Dojo to the Street by that force of nature, Alain Burrese.
The UPSIDE:
Once again Alain has created a quality product out of the strongest interests of his life, self defence and Hapkido.
